Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 - Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a small town located in the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. This part of the island known as West Island can be confusing to those unfamiliar with its meaning. Many people believe that it's an island to the to the west of Montreal, but it is actually a part of the city. West Island encompasses everything between the two cities in Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel was born there however her stay there was short. Brugel grew to be a young woman within Courtice Ontario just outside Oshawa. She was determined to be professional, however because of a huge expansion, she surpassed all of her dancing partners. She admitted in an article that was published in the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. When I outgrew my male partners I stopped. Former dancers often turn to acting, and in the case of Brugel it was an urging by her teacher in drama. The teacher suggested she try to get a role for the school's annual show. She was able to audition and be cast as Anne of Green Gables. Following her award of the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Through the years that followed, Brugel has landed roles on more than 60 productions on both small and large screens, attracting the greatest interest when she was offered the character as Rita in the award-winning television series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the sole Canadian of the Season 1 cast of the show and only seen occasionally was the sole Canadian.
